For small to medium sized CPG companies, market research is frequently talked about but rarely under taken. And for good reason. It's expensive. And time consuming. When push comes to shove, smaller companies want to be nimble and they make an educated guess about how best to take their next big growth step with positioning, new products, or new distribution without the benefit of insight from the people who will be buying the brand – the consumer.

But what if it wasn't? What if it wasn't expensive or time consuming?
